REDUCES THE COST OF APPLICATION MAINTENANCE

Source Wizard gives you the ability to both quickly and easily perform program maintenance activity on your Computer systems, whatever the language, environment or database type.

Source Wizard offers a comprehensive set of analysis and edit tools to support your ongoing maintenance programme. Source code in ANY language can be analysed for planned maintenance changes, which can then be made via the normal program editor.

By using Source Wizard, IT staff can establish the project size and determine estimates of costs as well as identifying the priority of the Systems for the maintenance project. Source Wizard will perform the code analysis on a variety of different types of source code and then make use of the information derived from the analysis run to ensure that the changes to the code are made in the shortest time, with the minimum of errors.

Source Wizard can categorise the areas of code requiring changes by type of function and priority, to enable accurate estimation of programmer workload and classification of individual program impact.

Source Wizard contains options for specific maintenance activities, such as Euro conversion and date processing. All of the specific options are tailored to minimise the time needed for the maintenance of applications where source code changes are required.

Source Wizard is made up of a number of components that help users identify where ALL the changes are required in the code using a powerful Select and Ignore parameter function. The product will then assist with applying those changes, using the standard editor

Analysing and Reporting

Source Wizard has a source code analyser with four different levels of reporting. Users scan the source code, written in any language, in batch mode.

Four Levels of Reporting:

DATANAME - lists all the datanames from the selected programs that are related to the search criteria specified, together with various statistics.
SUMMARY - used by management for staff and resource planning. Estimates the overall scope of the maintenance effort, based on the number of instances where a change is required, together with the complexity of each change.
LINE - used to estimate how much work individual programs require, again based on volume and complexity of currency instances.
DETAIL - used by programmers as a working document that lists each specific point where code changes are required. The process also optionally stores the location of each point where a code change may be required for use with either the Source Wizard Program Edit or Auto Replace facility
